300

It isn’t very often that I really look forward to the release of a movie. The last one I can think of was Borat and the last one before that was probably from the Matrix trilogy or Star Wars Episode III. For some reason, I’m pumped about the March 9th release of 300. Actually, the official US title is “Frank Miller’s 300” as the movie is based on Miller’s graphic novel about the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. Maybe this movie speaks to me because I really enjoyed Braveheart, Gladiator, Ben Hur, etc. I think also what I’m looking forward to is the release from the realism constraints that the previous movies were forced into – this is based on a novel. A fan who saw the film at the Berlin international film festival confirmed that “just like the Lord of the Rings, much CGI was used here.” I’m sure this will make it very pleasing to the eye and I’ve heard good things about the cast. In any event, on March 9th, you can expect to see me in the theaters. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that Frank Miller is the creator of Sin City. I remember when the Sin City comic books came out and this past christmas break I was able to watch the film. Excellent job there as well.
